| If
you've tried recently to place an order on our secure web
shopping cart, you may have found that the link is sometimes
broken. And some
of our web pages won't load, either. We're working to get
them fixed, but in the interim, if there's anything we can do,
please call us or send us an e-mail and we'll call you.

Chocolate and Wine Intertwined - Part
II |
|
If you missed our
Chocolate and Wine special event held in our Downtown
Gettysburg Wine Shop last February, you've got another
chance! Everyone
knows how well certain wines go with certain foods, so imagine
the delightful pleasures that can be had when we pair your
favorite Adams County Winery wines with delicious
chocolates. This
Sunday, April 27, we turn the tables and go to Christine's
Chocolate Creations in Mechanicsburg. Christine's wonderful
hand-made chocolates are created right there at her shop at
6500 Carlisle Pike (close to Supershoes and next to Palumbo
Pizza). You'll
get to sample candies and wines that have been paired for your
enjoyment. And
purchase, of course!
Plus, Christine will give a tour through her
chocolate-making facility and you can watch high quality
chocolates being made.
The event is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you need additional
information, please contact the Winery or contact Christine
the day of the event at
717-766-4906. |

Yes, We Ship! |
Many of our faithful
customers have taken advantage of our wine ordering and
shipping services to keep themselves, friends and family
supplied with the country's best wines. While we would love to
be able to ship to all 50 states, some state laws and
prohibitive costs for permits and taxes have forced us to
re-evaluate and limit the states we ship to. These are the
states we can ship to today. Of course, always
subject to change, as states change their requirements and costs.
District of
Columbia
Florida
Georgia (when purchase is made on
site)
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas (when purchase is made on
site)
Minnesota
Missouri
New Hampshire
New Mexico
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
The cost for up to 2
bottles is $24.00; up to 4 bottles, $27.00; up to 6 bottles,
$30.00 and up to 12 bottles, $40.00. Over one case, please
call for a quote.
At the price of gas now, this shipping can be quite a
deal!
We appreciate
your support of our Winery. If you would like to help small
farm wineries be able to ship to your state, contact your
legislators. The only way legislators will make changes is if
they are encouraged by their constituents. Please contact them
to both allow us to ship and enact reasonable
expenses for the shipping permits.

May is Festival Month! |
The month of May means
flowers, warm weather, sunshine, outdoors, and most
importantly, the beginning of the wine festival season. It will be a busy
month for the Winery as we attend even more festivals than in
prior years. For
those of you who can't make a regular trip to the Winery, we
try to bring the Winery to you! If you're planning to
visit one of the festivals below, and you want to be sure we
bring your wine, just send us an e-mail and let us know what
wine you'll want and in what quantity. Service with a
smile!
The first weekend of May
is the Apple Blossom Festival, held right
here in the Fruit Belt of Pennsylvania (that's Adams
County!). And who
will be the first and only premier wine vendor of this annual
soiree? You
guessed it, Adams County Winery. Head on over to the
South Mountain Fairgrounds in Biglerville, just 5 miles from
us, on either May 3rd and 4th for live
entertainment, great food, fine crafts, and of course,
delicious Adams County Wines. For more information
and specifics, visit our web site.
Do you have plans yet for
the weekend of the 17th and 18th of
May? Of course
you do. You plan
to spend it with Adams County Winery at both of the
festivals we are attending. Thursday, the
15th, through Sunday, the 18th, we will be at
the Gettysburg Bluegrass
Festival, one of the premier bluegrass events in the
eastern United States.
You will be able to find us enjoying great music and
offering fine wine for sampling and sale. You'll even be able to
drink your wine at the concert site. I don't know of a
better combination! When you've had
enough bluegrass, if there is such a thing, navigate over to
Fredericksburg,
PA and the 1st Annual Fire & Ice Wine and Music
Festival (near Annville). This will be a smaller
festival, where you'll have time to actually sample wines and
talk to the people who make the wines without the crowds often
found at the larger and older festivals. Come join us!
Tired
yet? Can't be,
because there are still two weekends left in May left and
wouldn't you know, that means we have two more festivals to
attend. The Great
Pennsylvania FlavorFest will be held on the 24th
and 25th of May at Mount Hope Estate and Winery in
Manheim, PA. Not
just your average wine festival, this will
be an all-encompassing showcase of our regional cultural
diversity.
Cooking demos, chef cook-offs, and culinary workshops
will accompany live music and fantastic Pennsylvania wines,
including your favorites from Adams County Winery. For more information,
visit our web page.
BLUES Fans pay
attention:
Dauphin County will be hosting the First Annual Blues
and Wine Festival on Saturday, May 31st at Fort
Hunter Park in Harrisburg. This is a one day
event headlined by Big Jack Johnson. Trust us - if you are
a blues and jazz music fan YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS! It doesn't hurt that
you will be able to drink our wines while you listen,
either! For more
information, visit their web site.
The last day in May and
the first day of June, you will find us at the York
Fairgrounds, attending another festival "first". The Sons of the
American Legion will be sponsoring the first ever Taste of
Pennsylvania Wine and Music Festival. We will be in
attendance along with the great food and music that are sure
to be there. You
won't want to miss it!
For more information, visit their web page.

Releases |
|
If
you haven't visited the Winery recently, you may not
know that In late February, we bottled Sweet Catawba, which we
had been out of for a while. In March, we released the
2007 vintage of Majestic, our wonderful Cayuga wine. Be sure
to stop in to pick up these favorites while we have
them! |

Vintner's Report |
|
Okay campers. It has been a while
since we've published a newsletter, so let's see what has been
happening, and what will happen at the Winery.
First of all, our Jessica
has left us for greener pastures. Jessica was our
marketing director, and she brought zest, vibrance, and
creativity to the job.
We shall miss her. There is no
replacement yet, but we are looking.
New
to the Winery are Gavin (Events Coordinator) and Rose,
full-time tasting room personality. For all you people who
insist on ruining a perfectly good walk by hitting little
white balls with sticks, Gavin is your man. He comes to us from
the golfing industry, and has jumped into the fray with both
feet. I like to
throw as much stuff at new people as possible
to see how they handle it, and I have been unable to reach his
limit yet. Rose
has also jumped in the pool. She has already
developed a following from our loyal customer base. Come in and say howdy
to her. And then
there's Amanda.
Fresh out of graphic design school, she has already
created gorgeous labels and is bringing a new essence of
creativity to the Winery. Her next project is
our web site and shopping cart! George has joined the
operations team, and brings mechanical expertise long missing
from our staff (and Vintner!). Steve is the first of
our part-time summer student workers. He's quiet and
industrious - we barely know he's here! We plan to keep
him very busy with grounds maintenance and flora and fauna
control all summer!
BIKER
ALERT! Did you
miss the blessing of the bikes at Battlefield Harley? We will have an
alternate date for you.
Adams County Winery will sponsor a blessing of the
bikes on Saturday, May 10th here at the
Winery. The
official blessing will take place at 1030 hours (that's 10:30
a.m. o'clock in the morning for you non-military types), with
food available afterwards. Food will consist of
burgers and dogs, available at a nominal fee. Just let us know
if you plan
to come so we can order enough food. Come see my 2003 Indian
Spirit!
Second, as a courtesy to
the Blue Knights of Maryland, I want to let you know about an
upcoming event.
The 4th Annual Purple Heart Ride will take
place on Sunday, June 15, 10:00 a.m. This is an escorted
ride from Sykesville, MD to Walter Reed Army Medial Center to
demonstrate support for members of the armed forces who have
been wounded in service to our country. Go to www.purpleheartride.org for more
details.
Caution! John has just
finished the Basic Motorcycle Safety Course, and is likely to
ride you about safety and motorcycles. I want you to come
back in one piece, so will offer unsolicited advice on
same.
We have lots of events at
the Winery this year.
Hope to see you soon! John the
Vintner.
